WORKING AT CONTOUR IN WINTERSWIJK
As an employee at Contour Winterswijk, you work for an innovative and stable organization. Our metal company has more than 130 employees. The various departments in Winterswijk collectively occupy 17,000 m² of business space.
METAL COMPANY
Contour is a metal company and supplier. For our high-tech customers, we manufacture metal products from sheet metal. Our customers usually use these products in the final assembly of their end product. These are customers that, for example, build chip machines, hospital equipment, and parcel sorting centers. Contour supplies the metal parts for these. Often, these are fully assembled housings. Our customers then install the electronics, upload the software, and test the device.

GOOD EMPLOYERSHIP
Our lines of communication are short and there is an informal working atmosphere. We believe that employees should feel at home within the organization and have the right resources and knowledge to perform their work.
Good employership is a requirement for making this possible. That is why we pay a great deal of attention to creating a good work environment. We offer our employees the opportunity to develop themselves further, both in depth and breadth.
We also ensure well-equipped ergonomic workstations, placing a lot of emphasis on the maintenance of machines and tools. Contour is a true frontrunner when it comes to our machine park; we believe in continuous innovation.
The great thing about working at Contour is that the company is large enough to be professionally organized. There are all sorts of specializations in which you can deepen your expertise. At the same time, the company is small enough that, after a while, you can get to know everyone in the organization. If you show extra dedication and personal development, it will be noticed and appreciated.
Interview with a colleague
“The great thing about working at Contour is the freedom and responsibility you get when developing new products. The atmosphere in our department is always very positive. We get along well with each other. Communication flows smoothly, and there is also time to have a joke with each other.“

TRAINING AND ROOM FOR DEVELOPMENT
It is our colleagues with knowledge and experience who give our company its right to exist. Anyone can buy production machines, but generating customer value and making the most of those production machines in a well-organized manner isn’t so simple. You need knowledge and experience for that.
In principle, you can also start at Contour without a diploma. Our colleagues gain knowledge and experience by working together and taking various courses. If desired, anyone can follow a BBL vocational course at Contour. We also work closely with schools and training institutes in the region. There are always interns and graduates active in our company as well.
We are a company with a long history in the metal industry. At Contour, celebrating a 40-year anniversary is therefore not unusual. Yet we also have enough influx of young and enthusiastic colleagues. It’s all about combining years of knowledge and experience with the enthusiasm of the new generation. That’s precisely where the best innovations arise. One cannot do without the other. This mix ensures that we continue to develop as a modern production company.
Contour is a company with a long-term perspective. Just like our shareholder.

THE SHAREHOLDER: VADO BEHEER
Contour and ANVIL are companies in the portfolio of the Dutch VADO beheer. VADO is a known name in the manufacturing industry and has been Contour’s shareholder since 1998. It can therefore rightly call itself a long-term shareholder. As a VADO company, we at Contour have more than enough scope for entrepreneurship. This is clearly reflected in the expansion of our organization over the years. VADO is positively involved as a constructive sparring partner in our organizational development.
THE COOPERATION: ANVIL INDUSTRIES
Contour is part of Anvil Industries. Under the name Anvil Industries, various companies pool their knowledge and experience in sheet metal, machining, welded assemblies, and mechanical assembly. Together, we supply products to the same customer sectors. Each one is a specialist with many years of experience and expertise. Each company is unique, and together they complement each other seamlessly in terms of operations, batch sizes, precision, and dimensions.
AUTOMATION AND ROBOTIZATION
At Contour, we see automation and robotization as an important opportunity, both for Contour as a commercial company and for our technical specialists. By using robots and automated production systems, we take the robot out of the human. Robots can perform repetitive work, while our operators think about how best to implement this.
That latter point is not something reserved only for engineers or office staff. At Contour, Cobots and welding robots are operated by the skilled workers who also operate the conventional machines. Operating these robots is becoming more and more accessible. In the case of a Cobot, press brake operation or welding processes are often more complex than operating the robot itself, which you program using a touchscreen tablet.
By having our operators work directly with the latest production technology, they develop the skills needed to stay on the cutting edge themselves. This way, we keep the work interesting and challenging. Our employees also acquire enough knowledge to remain relevant themselves. The work we do will not simply move to low-wage countries, because we continue to close the gap between automation and the value of professional knowledge. There is always at least one process that is not yet fully automated where we can add value for our customers.
CORE COMPETENCIES
The core competencies are the most important competencies within our organization. All of our employees embody these.

Success is not achieved alone; you do it together. Collaboration means you are collegial. Together with your (in)direct colleagues, you think and work toward achieving the shared goals.
Quality Awareness
Contour is known for the high quality of its delivered products. We find it important to safeguard that quality, which is why we are continuously evaluating and improving our own tasks where necessary.
Responsibility
