What Is Tube Laser Cutting?

Tube laser cutting is an advanced metalworking technique in which metal tubes and profiles are cut with a powerful laser beam with extreme precision. This allows you to create complex shapes, angled cuts, and notches that are not feasible with traditional sawing or drilling methods, or would require many more operations. The Production Process

The following steps are carried out to arrive at a beautiful end product:

  • Loading the material
    The automatic chain conveyor places the tube (max. 6.5 m) in the chuck.

  • Applying anti-spatter spray
    The spatter guard module can spray the inside of the tube with an anti-spatter spray. During laser cutting of a tube, molten metal splashes are released. This spray ensures that the splashes do not adhere to the material of the tube. That provides a better and cleaner end result.
  • Clamping and positioning
    The supplied tube is positioned with self-centering clamps. Sagging is prevented by automatically positioning rollers. This ensures optimal stability during cutting.

  • Laser processing
    The 3 kW fiber laser cuts straight and angled edges (up to 45°) according to your CAD drawing.

    Optional post-processing
    In addition to the tube laser machine, various deburring machines and a column drilling machine are installed. This way, the operator of the tube laser can immediately post-process the cut tubes in one go if needed, without having products “waiting in line” for another department. This saves costs and shortens lead times.

  • Quality control
    An employee checks whether the cutting is as desired and measures the product to ensure that all tolerances are met.
