What cookies are

A cookie is a small text file that a website stores in your browser. Some services keep data in the browser’s own storage (local storage or session storage). On this page we call all of this cookies.

On your first visit, the website asks whether you allow cookies for statistics and marketing. Without your consent, the website does not load any code from other parties for statistics or marketing, and no data goes to those parties.

You can change your choice at any time through Cookie settings at the bottom of every page. If you withdraw your consent, the website deletes the cookies of that part and reloads the page. Your choice is valid for one year. After that, the website asks for your consent again.

Which cookies we use

Necessary

  • cc_cookie, from Contour: remembers your cookie choice. Retention period: 1 year.
  • contour-utm, from Contour, in session storage: keeps the origin code of an advertisement link, so that an application or quote request sends that code along. If you only give consent for statistics on a later page, Google Analytics receives the code as well. Retention period: until you close the tab.
  • Cloudflare Turnstile, on pages with a form: checks whether a human is submitting the form. It loads from challenges.cloudflare.com, only when you start filling in the form.

Statistics

  • _ga, from Google Analytics: distinguishes visitors. Retention period: 2 years.
  • _ga_M5LYGR9CC0, from Google Analytics: remembers the state of your visit. Retention period: 2 years.
  • _clck, from Microsoft Clarity: distinguishes visitors. Retention period: 1 year.
  • _clsk, from Microsoft Clarity: links the pages of one visit together. Retention period: 1 day.

Marketing

  • _fbp, from the Meta Pixel: distinguishes browsers when measuring advertisements. Retention period: 90 days.
  • _fbc, from the Meta Pixel: remembers that you came through an advertisement on Facebook or Instagram. Retention period: 90 days.
  • _gcl_au, from Google Ads: links a visit to Google’s advertisements. Retention period: 90 days.
  • _gcl_aw, from Google Ads: remembers that you came through an advertisement on Google. Retention period: 90 days.

Microsoft, Meta and Google may also set cookies on their own domains (clarity.ms, facebook.com and google.com). They describe which ones in their own cookie and privacy policies.

Videos from YouTube

A video on this website loads from YouTube only when you click it. The player then comes from youtube-nocookie.com. From that moment, YouTube may use cookies and your browser’s storage, in accordance with Google’s privacy policy.

Cookies in your browser

You can also block or delete cookies in your browser. Your browser’s help function explains how. If you block all cookies, the website asks for your choice again on every visit.
