At Contour we have completed another sustainability project. We have completely replaced the gas-fired curing oven of our powder coating line with a new, energy-efficient curing oven! This lets us apply a paint finish to sheet metal parts even more efficiently.
The new oven offers several energy-saving benefits:
- The new oven is a hybrid and can run on gas as well as on (green) electricity, which results in lower CO2 emissions.
- The new oven makes it possible to use significantly more energy from our solar panels. Despite grid congestion, this makes a further investment in PV panels possible. Local generation, in other words! More on that later.
- Thanks to the A-cap air lock, the heat stays in the curing oven better.
- Residual heat from the oven is now used efficiently for the drying oven.
- Light curtains make sure all entrance and exit doors close automatically when no products are passing through.
This project was only possible thanks to the dedication and flexibility of everyone involved. ESTEE Coating Solutions, Klein Poelhuis Bedrijven and KlaassenGroep BV carried out the installation around the turn of the year. During this period our own colleagues painted our products at an external location. Our customers also helped plan the products to be painted.
