To supply our customers in the manufacturing industry with the latest products and techniques, knowledge and skills are needed, and it is up to Contour to keep developing constantly. As an intern or thesis student, you can play a part in that!
Internship project
A powder coating line, laser cutting machines, welding equipment, (robotic) press brakes, a cleanroom and a pickling line. A company uses a lot of energy. Climate and energy neutrality are increasingly on companies’ agendas. That includes Contour!
We are looking for a student to research the energy flows within Contour. You carry out a general study of the whole of Contour and make an overview of the largest energy and power consumers. You make this clear with, for example, a Sankey diagram with supporting rationale. Next, you focus on a specific department so that you can recommend and/or implement an improvement measure.
One example of a department is the powder coating installation. This installation contains a gas-fired oven, but alternatives are available on the market, for example an infrared oven instead of a convection oven. As a company, we are also curious about the potential of hydrogen, infrared heat pipes or induction. In short: what could the installation of the focus department look like in 5 years?
Internship allowance
If you do an internship at Contour, you receive an appropriate allowance for it. You also receive good supervision from an experienced subject-matter supervisor and a general supervisor during your educational internship.
Recognized training company
Contour is a training company recognized by SBB (the Dutch organization for cooperation between vocational education and industry). We provide a good and safe workplace. As a student, you are assigned a personal workplace trainer who supervises you during the BBL apprenticeship (a work-study apprenticeship with an employment contract).
Who are we looking for?
You are a motivated student of mechanical engineering with a focus on energy engineering. While carrying out this assignment, you can work independently and, when needed, you are a team player. You show initiative, and when things get stuck, you are the persistent type who goes the extra mile and makes the project a success.

Contour supplies specialist sheet metal parts, mainly for the high-tech industry. Think of parts for chip machines, medical equipment and logistics systems. With approx. 200 FTE in Winterswijk, we are a well-organized and innovative company. We have a modern machine park, our own powder coating installation and even a cleanroom.
