Contour Covering Technology is a supplier of sheet metal parts and assemblies. Contour offers many capabilities: sheet metal fabrication, welding, powder coating, assembly, cleanroom and adhesive bonding.
Each year, Contour produces around 8,000 different items in 20,000 production orders. Our focus is on small to medium-sized series. Contour’s mission is to supply the manufacturing industry with high-quality sheet metal parts and assemblies. These include cabinets, enclosures, frames, machine covers and complete (electro)mechanical modules.
To supply our customers in the manufacturing industry with the latest products and techniques, knowledge and skills are needed, and it is up to Contour to keep developing constantly. As an intern or thesis student, you can play a part in that!
Internship project
The goal of this assignment is to carry out a feasibility study on purchasing a tube laser at Contour. The research must give insight into the possibilities and limitations of using a tube laser, and into the financial and organizational consequences of purchasing a tube laser at Contour.
What will you do?
You start with an inventory of Contour’s current production processes for which the tube laser could be used. Then you research the technical possibilities and limitations of different types of tube lasers. You also analyze the financial feasibility of purchasing a tube laser, including the investment costs, the operating costs and the payback period. A comparison of purchasing a tube laser with other production methods is also made.
The results of the feasibility study are recorded in a report, which covers the following aspects, among others:
- The possibilities and limitations of using a tube laser within Contour’s production processes
- A detailed description of the technical specifications of the selected types of tube lasers
- A calculation of the financial feasibility of purchasing a tube laser, including the investment costs, the operating costs and the payback period
Internship allowance
If you do an internship at Contour, you receive an appropriate allowance for it. You also receive good supervision from an experienced subject-matter supervisor and a general supervisor during your educational internship.
Recognized training company
Contour is a training company recognized by SBB (the Dutch organization for cooperation between vocational education and industry). We provide a good and safe workplace. As a student, you are assigned a personal workplace trainer who supervises you during the BBL apprenticeship (a work-study apprenticeship with an employment contract).
